Our Head of Social Media at Great British Chefs (aka @anniemole) went along to the LikeMinds’ Conference on Friday 21st October 2011 in Exeter. Here’s a collection of her highlights from the last day of a three day event. Naturally this includes a few food pictures & thoughts!  As we work with Michelin starred chefs, she was delighted to hear praise of Michelin from IBM’s Social Media Marketing Manager: “Michelin was a brand that understood social media before it even existed”.

Most impressive person at F8 2011 - Chris Cox

This was the most impressive guy to me at F8 - Chris Cox Facebook’s VP of Product Management. I can’t find his speech from the conference online yet, but this badly filmed, hardly viewed, YouTube video shows what he and they were thinking a year ago (it was uploaded in November 2010). It’s why Timeline will be important. It’s the best way of describing what Facebook are planning in just over six minutes.

MediaTel: Newsline: BBC One launches QR codes in The Good Cook

“As part of the preparation for this session we found some new research from YouGov, showing that 40% of the population knew what a QR code was and 12% have snapped one with their mobile. Now 12% doesn’t sound that many people but it’s not far from the number of people who have iPhones in the UK.

“We think QR codes have great potential as a marketing tool - brands just need to explain what QR codes are and then delight people with what the QR leads to.”
